there is nothing you can say or do

This is already my third chambray button-down (they're all different, I swear!). I just couldn't resist the polkadot print! So how many is too many chambray tops? Because I saw an ombre bleached one from H&M that I'm totally in love with now...too much? Haha, I'll try to be good this time.

Ahhhh!! I just realized this is my first outfit shot of the fall season in tights. I honestly think it's been colder September than previous ones, or maybe I'm just missing summer already. Fall happens so fast, I looked up at some trees this week while walking through my neighbourhood and realized that the leaves have already changed colour. Come to think about it, next week is already October!

just like most, falling head in

[faux leather jacket: Sparkle and Fade | white blouse: Forever21 | red pants: Urban Planet | animal print scarf: H&M | denim flats: Old Navy]

My outfit from yesterday when J and I went on a dinner date with Kristy of Monochroma.chic fame. I actually first accidentally bumped into her last year when we were both hunting for Revlon lip butters, only to realize who she was after the encounter. At that time I was already reading Kristy's blog but didn't put two and two together. After stalking spotting each other a few more times over the last few months, we decided it was definitely time to officially meet, so we bonded over spicy Korean food last night! (FYI - she is even more awesome in person)

Maybe it seems strange to some, but I've met lots of people with shared interests over the internet. It has to be one of the fastest ways to meet people who have the same obsessions! I've had tons of great meals with foodies that I've met through twitter and foodspotting. Ok will get off my THE-INTERNET-HAS-GREAT-PEOPLE-SOAPBOX now and get back to this outfit.

I have still been choosing looser silhouettes over my more fitted clothing. Partially because I'm still carrying a few extra lbs than normal but mostly now because I've grown to really like the look. Red, black, and white together is my favourite combination. Don't get me wrong, obviously from my other outfits you can tell that I love pairing bright colours. There is just something very classic and sophisticated about these 3 colours together.

and dreaming when they're gone

Some of you are probably thinking, "what!? white after Labour Day!?". So let me tell you this. That "rule" is ancient. Wear white after Labour Day if you feel like it, I mean if it really was a "fashion rule" there wouldn't be white sweaters and down-filled coats available in the winter time!

You can probably tell that this outfit was nautical inspired. Bee spent most of his day calling me Captain and saying "ahoy!".  Ah boys, sometimes they don't get it haha.

so don't give up on me

[men's striped sweater: Banana Republic | eyelet shots: H&M | red scarf: Forever 21 | yellow purse: H&M | grey tights: Joe Fresh | denim flats: Old Navy]

Fall is officially here now. Even though it is the perfect temperature to play around with layers and wear really nice outfits, at the moment, I'm still loving oversized men's sweaters. Comfort has been dominating my clothing choices since I have been walking a minimum of 5km each day. This was in preparation for another Bloor-Danforth subway walk! I found 2 more victims to tag along with me. It's nice to know that there are other people willing to subject themselves to a 28km walk for no reason out there. :)

[bracelets starting from the top: DIY, Forever 21, Joe Fresh, H&M | polish: Essie - Shine of the Times over random navy polish]

Essie's Shine of the Times nail polish has been seen on the blog before but I have been wearing it non-stop lately. It is perfect for fall to layer over dark colours. Every time I encounter a female cashier when I'm buying something, I get compliments on it. Definitely unique and a must have.

Today I did 4 hours of volleyball training at warriors and realized just how out of shape I had gotten over the summer. So I will be trying to get some more work outs during the week and cutting out processed sugars for the next two weeks. If you knew me, this sounds near impossible since sugary goods comprise 50% of my diet. Get your bets in! How long do you think I can last?

Will be back with more variety in my future posts. Hope everyone had a good weekend!

J loves: fall

You can probably tell from the last few posts that fall is definitely on the mind of both M and myself. The weather is still unpredictable (with some warm days and some cold days), but tomorrow we welcome in the first official day of the fall season! I don't know about you, but I am definitely ready to trade in my shorts for long pants and start wearing blazers and tights on a regular basis again.

Here are some of the things that are on my mind for the upcoming season...
  • Polkadot anything. I'm happy to see that one of my favourite prints is still going strong for fall. I will probably have to ban myself from getting anything more in this print...Maybe after buying a polkadot sweater.
  • Le smoking slipper. They're the new flat. I'm particularly fond of this denim pair from the Gap.
  • Shades of burgundy in beauty. Looks like oxblood is the big fall colour. I'm really enjoying those shades in nail polish and lipstick. After a summer of corals and pinks, I'm looking forward to dark nails and lips again.
  • Ankle boots. Versatile all the way until it snows a foot and a half haha.
  • Trousers in bold patterns. H&M is filled with them! Also, I someone have already managed to accumulate two pairs of polkadot pants. I told you it's one of my favourite prints!

i'm in here, i’m trying to tell you something

[white blouse: Forever21 | grey blazer, black pants, animal print scarf, chain bracelet: H&M | coral belt: Joe Fresh | black flats: Pure]

Are you getting sick of seeing this scarf yet? I probably wear it at least 2-3 days, each week, so inevitably it is going to appear in multiple posts. This was a work outfit from a little while ago. As mentioned in my last post, sleeves always run short on me, which is why 9 out of 10 times mine are rolled up. Blazers with an interesting lining are always appreciated for that reason. Either I have abnormally long gorilla arms, or am just a tad bit taller than the average clothing store's target market.

Volleyball season has started again! I have a super enthusiastic (or obsessive) personality, when I get into something, it is all I want to do. I'm already regretting not looking for a second league to play in and considering doubling up on the training clinics. Seeing as how the hunt for a place to live is still ongoing, the schedule can't accommodate that anyway. :(

What are your recent obsessions?

once upon a time we burned bright

So this outfit was from the night I headed out to FNO. Did any one else make it out to the festivities last week? I was really excited to hear that Toronto was holding one this year, despite it being held on the first night TIFF officially kicked off, I'd have to say it was pretty good. M and I started off at the Eaton Centre at 6pm, nothing was going on yet so we decided to head to the Burroughes Building for RAC Boutique's Bazaar, which didn't disappoint. I picked up a cute pair of earrings from Shop for Jayu. After meeting my cousin and catching up with some friends we ended off the night at Holt's 175th street party celebration. All in all a good night, I'm looking forward to next year's FNO, which I'm sure will only be bigger and better!

don't want to give in so we both gave up

[men's sweater: Banana Republic | yellow shorts and denim flats: Old Navy | grey purse, animal print scarf and chain ring: H&M | black tights: Secret]

It's that time of year again! The weather is cool enough for my sweater stealing habits to kick in. I seem to only confiscate Banana Republic men's sweaters, others here and here. Maybe I just like having really long sleeves because normally the sleeves on the tops in my size run short on me. Originally I left the house without any tights but realized how silly that was mid-day and had buy a pair to put on. Tights are another item on my list of things-I-have-too-much-of.

My clothing has been super casual lately and I suspect you will see a variation of this outfit again very soon.
It is super comfortable and cosy.

she expected the world

Don't let the photos trick you, the leaves haven't changed colour yet! That's just the setting sun reflecting off the trees. It still is technically summer! I was quite surprised looking at these photos after shooting them, I totally took a double take at the trees.

I originally wore this outfit for a family lunch and Bee's birthday dinner with his cousins a few weekends ago, but didn't get a chance to get some photos of it. I liked it so much I repeated the outfit the weekend after just to shoot it.

I picked up the shirt from Zara when everything was on sale and it has quickly turned into a very versatile piece in my wardrobe. Cut like a fitted tee, but with a much heavier cotton material and a bit of shoulder detail, it can be dressed up or dressed down with a variety of bottoms. $20 well spent!

been looking for remedies, i need you to be around

[blue blouse: Joe Fresh | red pants: Urban Planet | animal print scarf, chain necklace and chain bracelet: H&M | black skinny belt: Gap | black flats: Pure]

Is it just me or did fall weather come with a blink of an eye this year? Somehow over the weekend it went from melting-in-shorts-weather to freezing-in-wool-sweaters! I think I caught a bit of what J had as well. Changes in seasons never fail to make me ill, but luckily a restful weekend helped. AwesTRUCK2012 made my taste buds very happy. I posted images of my 3 favourite dishes on my foodspotting account. Warriors training clinic starts again this Sunday so keep your fingers crossed that I don't look obscene in my volleyball

My clothing definitely gets brighter as my mood picks up.You have seen blue and red outfits on the blog before. Jewel-toned blue and red pair nice for a slightly more autumn vibe. My latest obsession has been bracelets that resemble watch straps. I actually haven't owned a wrist watch since...before high school! I gesture a lot, which the random people who have been hit by me as they walked past can attest to. This just leads to annoyed strangers and damaged watch faces. Luckily now-a-days I tend to have a camera, my itouch, or food in my hands, so I'm less of a hazard to fellow pedestrians now.

say goodbye and just fly away

[neon bib necklace, chambray button down and striped mini skirt: Forever 21 | blazer: Elizabeth and James | gold bracelet: Joe Fresh | purse: Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C. Mini | studded ankle boots: Sam Edelman "Pax"]

So it seems I have caught a cold...Again. This is my second summer cold this year! I guess the combination of getting caught in the rain and a mix of hot and cold days have strained my immune system a bit. Ah autumn, you are so close now.

One of my favourite things about living in Toronto is how distinct our four seasons are. By the time I run out of one season's worth of outfit combinations, another season is upon me. My blazers and boots are getting dusted off and are slowly being reintroduced into my wardrobe once again.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend, I'm off to catching up on some reading!

i go to sleep and imagine that you're there with me

[embellished blouse: Banana Republic | black blazer: Zara | slate pants: H&M | bronze flats: Gap]

Despite it being years now since I've had to go back to school, September always gives me the urge to buy school office supplies. The end of summer tends to bring me back to basics. As mentioned in previous posts, my default uniform is casual pants and a blazer. The white sleeveless blouse is a recent buy. Lately I have been drawn to tops with embellished necklines.

My laptop finally died this week so I'm using my itouch to post this. Trying to decide between another PC or if it is time to make that transition to a Mac. Either way my weekend will involved laptop shopping. Also up for this weekend is AwesTRUCK, which is a food truck event that I'm super exicited for.

So help me decide, are you a PC or a Mac?

one year

Ah how does time pass us so quickly? Yesterday was the one year anniversary of when M and I started this blog. Thanks and shoutouts to everyone who has been following along! The blog has definitely been a fun experience for the both of us.

One of my friends recently asked how many photos do we generally take per outfit shoot. The answer is a lot, haha. Over the past year, we have slowly decreased the amount of shots taken in order to get the right ones, but never the less, there are always bad photos.

Behold! My outtakes from the past year! I am very prone to laughing, fixing my glasses/hair mid-shot, blinking and looking like a deer in headlights. These pictures brings back a lot of memories. Aside from the usual stares and gawking, we have had men yell lewd things at us, photobombers, countless strangers ask if we want our photo taken together, homeless people attempt to steal our stuff, and the list goes on. With that being said, so here's to another year of photo taking and blogging fun!

i don't wanna fall another moment into your gravity

[mint tank top, white button-down, print shorts, silver jewelry: H&M | denim flats: Old Navy | friendship bracelet: DIY | polish: Sally Hansen - Yellow Kitty]

Fall doesn't technically start until September 22nd this year, but in most of our minds Labour day is the last day of summer. I spent most of today getting some sun via a 3 hour walk and ending the day at the Hispanic fiesta. Dulce de leche churro is amazing! An attempt of capturing it's deliciousness was made, but a churro with caramel oozing out of it can look a little wrong. (haha)

Summer clothing should be all about breath-ability and comfort. I have randomly taken up making friendship bracelets again to add some colour to my wrists. It might make me look a bit odd on the subway but it keeps me occupied during my daily commute.

I have a few birthday shout outs today! Yesterday was J's birthday and tomorrow is this blog's birthday. Thanks everyone who has ever read one of our posts!! Hitting this milestone was much easier than I would have guessed. Look for an update to our layout once I find some time to sit down and create some new graphics!

Going to keep it short and enjoy the last few hours of the long weekend. Happy Labour Day all!

good morning and good night

Happy labour day long weekend everyone! This last long weekend of summer always leaves me with bittersweet feelings for a couple of reasons. Firstly tomorrow is my birthday! In fact, the year I was born, I was born on the labour day Monday. Yes, I've heard the jokes, my mother in fact, did go into labour on labour day haha. My birthday combined with the fact that fall is just around the corner and the start of a new school year is upon us (hah, but not this year for me though!), this weekend is a beginning and an end for me. My summer has definitely been a bit of a roller coaster, so here's to a new year for me and a fresh start! I'm looking forward to some big changes in my life.
